Studio Policies
Tuition
Please contact me for rates. Monthly tuition will vary based on when a student begins lessons.
Tuition is due and payable monthly, and is based on the fee for 37 lessons (or fewer, depending on student’s start date) to be given between September 1, 2011 and June 25, 2012. Tuition is pro-rated for students beginning after the first week of school. Tuition is due the first of EACH of 10 months beginning September 2011 and continuing through June 2012. Full tuition is due every month regardless of the number of lessons you received in the particular month. You will receive all of your lessons by the end of June. Cash, checks, or credit cards are accepted; checks must be payable to Kristen Sheridan.
Music & Activities Deposit
A deposit of $75 per student is payable upon registration to hold a spot for the 2011-2012 school year. This deposit will be used for music and supplies (reeds, mouthpieces, ligatures, etc.) for your student. Accounting for this deposit will begin in June 2012, and any remaining balance will be refunded at the end of the school year. All efforts will be made to keep expenses at a minimum.
Recital
There will be a Studio Recital on Sunday, May 20, 2012 at 4:00 pm at The Lyceum in Old Town Alexandria. Each student will have a mandatory 20-30 minute piano rehearsal in preparation for this recital at the studio on Saturday, May 12. Please mark your calendars for these two events NOW. I consider this to be vital to a student’s growth as a musician; attendance at and participation in this recital is mandatory. There will be a $25 recital fee for all students. This covers facility and accompanist fees for the rehearsal and performance.
Late Fee
There will be a $10 late fee assessed for each tuition payment received after the 10th of the month. To avoid depleting your student’s Music/Activity Deposit, please add $10 to any tuition payment made after the 10th of the month.
Lesson Attendance
Lessons will follow the Fairfax County Public Schools’ calendar, and will begin on the first day of the FCPS school year. Students are expected to attend all lessons. A telephone-schedule list (aka Swap List) will be provided for your use in arranging lesson trades for any week in which you have a lesson conflict or illness. Your lesson time is reserved for you exclusively, and it is your responsibility to either attend or find another student with whom to trade. There are no refunds for missed lessons.
Termination of Lessons
If lessons are terminated by the teacher, or by the student with 30-days’ advance notification, the amount of tuition paid will be credited to the cost of lessons received. If you have a credit balance, the amount will be refunded to you; if additional tuition is due, you will be billed. If lessons are terminated by the student with less than 30 days’ notice, the full amount of the following month’s tuition is due.
