Philadelphia Orchestra Chamber Concert

Several students joined me at the Barns at Wolf Trap this weekend (3/6/16) to hear my teacher Ricardo Morales perform the Mozart Clarinet Quintet with his colleagues from the Philadelphia Orchestra. He graciously took some time to meet with us and get to know the students a bit. We had a wonderful time!

Longfellow at the Virginia Music Educators Association 11.20.2015

I performed Viktor's Tale by John Williams with my students of the Longfellow Middle School Band last Thursday. We will also be performing this at the Virginia Music Educators (VMEA) conference next week. What a fun piece!

Here's my awesome trio of 6th graders, Emily, Sarah & Grace. They had their first rehearsal for our all-ensemble studio recital (Sunday June 7 at 2:00!) on Thursday, and they sounded WONDERFUL. We had a great time playing and laughing together. :)

Piano rehearsals

Every year, Mr. Hoffman and I hold marathon rehearsal sessions at my house so everyone can get ready for Solo Festival and other competitions coming up. We finished our third such day this weekend... we rehearsed from 9am-7pm with a new student every 20 minutes. We had some breaks and were well caffeinated. :) As a bonus, we had some siblings of my students and my 5th grade twins, so there was a variety of instruments. And, just to make it a little crazier, we had a tree taken down right outside our windows during the rehearsals. Never a dull moment here.

Richie Hawley masterclass 3/27/15

The Northern Virginia Music Teachers Association hosted a masterclass by Richie Hawley, who is the clarinet professor at Rice University. Mr. Hawley is regarded as one of the top clarinetists and teachers in the world, and we were very lucky to have him here to work with local students. Alison O'Bryan performed the Debussy Premiere Rhapsodie for him and did a fabulous job.

Studio redecorating!

I painted and redecorated the studio this summer... here's the pics! While waiting for lessons, students, parents & siblings are always welcome to play foosball, watch tv, do homework, or chat with other families.
