Each January, the 16 districts in the state of Virginia host an All-District Honor Band. Participating students are selected via a very competitive blind audition, meaning that the judges can not see the auditioning students, as they are behind a screen. All students must perform the same thing (scales, chromatic scale, prepared piece, sight reading.) For clarinets, there are approximately 125 students auditioning for 48 spots. District 11 includes students from the pyramids of Robinson, Lake Braddock, Woodson, West Springfield, Westfield, Centreville, Fairfax as well as Paul VI, Homeschoolers and TJHSST. District 12 is comprised of students form the pyramids of McLean, Madison, Herndon, Marshall, Arlington schools, South Lakes, Langley, Oakton, and Chantilly. All districts run their own separate auditions and events. In addition, I'm so happy for my sectional students and their teachers at McLean, Longfellow, Langley, and Robinson for their successes this weekend. They include these McLean students: Yishu Hu Jessica Tang Kimia Zadegan Hanna Aronson Sandy Cho Benny Mardiks Emily Mardiks Susie Choi Desmond Curran Matt Evanko Caroline Bertsch Michelle Ma Abi Anderson Kristine Yarnoff
